Soil Conservation Technical Handbook

Released in 2001, the Soil Conservation handbook is a looseleaf book.

  • Part A looks at the main types of erosion; mass movement, fluvial, surface and sediment erosion. For each chapter an introduction and history of each erosion type, including how it impacted on land use. The types, process and extent of each erosion are given, and the principles of control discussed.
  • Part B looks at the practices of soil conservation that can be employed, and factors that will impact on the effectiveness are discussed.

The Handbook does not give work recipes, but rather tries to enhance the readers understanding of what the practice can achieve so that each person can then put together their own programme.

The handbook can be downloaded as 4 files.

Kinross Whole Farm plan (added 16/12/05) (4064 KB )

This farm plan prototype was prepared for Horizons Regional Council as part of the Sustainable Land
Use Initiative (SLUI).

This pdf is not the full A3 prototype. It’s a heavily resampled A4 version with the operational plan
appended (the resource planning map was just too big). Resampling has degraded quality
considerably, but it should be sufficient to get an idea of the originals.
